Most networks are not broken. They were never designed.

They grow. A switch here, an access point there, a router someone ordered in a hurry. It works, until the terminal gets busier, the video calls start dropping, the payment system times out, or the crew loses connectivity halfway across the ocean.

We fix that properly. We work out what the network actually has to do, then design one that does it, and keeps doing it, long after we have left.

Network Design

We plan the network before anyone touches a cable.

Good networks start on paper. We survey the site or the vessel, measure the signal, map the coverage, and design a layout that fits how you really work.

You get a plan you can understand, and a bill of materials with no surprises in it.

Design is the cheapest part of a network. It is also the part that decides everything else.

  • Site and vessel surveys. Including RF spectrum analysis, so we see the interference you can't.
  • Wireless heatmaps. Coverage predicted before purchase, verified after install.
  • Capacity planning. Designed for the busiest hour, not the quietest.
  • Network segmentation. Crew, guests, operations and payment systems kept apart.
  • Redundancy and failover. What happens when a link drops, decided in advance.
  • Bill of materials. Every part listed, priced and explained.
  • Structured cabling and rack build. Tidy, labelled, documented.
  • Ubiquiti UniFi deployment. Gateways, switches, access points, cameras and door access.
  • Point-to-point and long-range links. Connect buildings, jetties, yards and remote sites.
  • VLANs, firewalls and QoS. The traffic that matters stays fast.
  • Handover pack. Network diagram, IP plan, credentials, warranty details.

Service 02

Network Installation

We install it, configure it, and prove it works before we leave.

We install the full stack: gateways, switches, access points, point-to-point links and cabling. Everything is configured, labelled and documented, so the next engineer who opens the cabinet knows exactly what they are looking at.

Then we test it. Not "it seems fine": measured throughput, roaming and coverage, checked against the design.

On vessels, we work to your schedule. Port call, layover, dry dock, or underway. Whatever the operation allows.

Installed once, properly. Not installed three times, cheaply.

Service 03

Network Maintenance

We watch your network so you don't have to.

Hardware ages. Firmware needs updating. Fleets change. A maintained network stays fast and secure. An unmaintained one quietly degrades until it fails on the worst possible day.

We monitor around the clock and fix most problems remotely, which, for a vessel mid-voyage, is the only fix that arrives in time. When a problem needs hands on it, we send an engineer to wherever the vessel is.

  • Proactive monitoring. We usually see the problem before you do.
  • Firmware and security updates. Tested, scheduled, never disruptive.
  • Remote support. Most issues resolved without anyone travelling.
  • Global attendance. We mobilise to your site, or meet the vessel at a port call.
  • Riding technicians. An engineer sails with you when the work needs sea time.
  • Spares strategy. Critical parts on board or on site, so a failure means hours, not a voyage.
  • Health reports. Plain language, no dashboards to decode.

An honest note: next-business-day attendance is a promise we make where we have people, Singapore and Denmark. Everywhere else, we tell you the realistic mobilisation time up front. We would rather give you a date we can hit than a service level we cannot.

Some jobs cannot be finished alongside.

Port calls are short. Cargo comes first. A network survey done in six hours between a discharge and a departure is a network survey done badly.

So when the work needs more time than the schedule allows, our engineers stay on board and sail with you. We survey underway, install underway, and commission the network in the conditions it will actually run in: steel decks, real crew load, real satellite link, real weather.

Most network companies stop at the gangway. We have a bag packed.

  • No rushed installs. The work sets the timeline, not the tide.
  • Real-world commissioning. Wi-Fi tested with the crew aboard, not an empty vessel in port.
  • Sea trial support. We can be aboard for trials, hand-over and first voyages.
  • Crew handover. Your ETO or master learns the system from the person who built it.
  • We work under your rules. Our technicians sail as riding service personnel, under the master's authority and your ISM procedures. We are used to it.

If it floats and it needs a network, we have done it.

Vessel networks are not one problem. A crude tanker with a hazardous-area deck and a 300 m steel hull is nothing like a crew transfer vessel doing four turnarounds a day. We design for the vessel in front of us.

NPT Solutions is a Singapore company with service technicians in Europe and Asia. Our team has spent 22 years in maritime and industrial networks: tankers, boxships, ferries, offshore vessels, ports and terminals. Most of those years we were the people who get the call when a network fails somewhere with no easy fix.

That is why we design the way we do. We plan for the bad day, not the good one.

Where are you based?

NPT Solutions is registered in Singapore, with service technicians in Europe and Asia. We attend sites and vessels worldwide.

Do you really sail with the vessel?

Yes. When the work needs more time than a port call allows, our engineer joins the vessel and completes the job underway. It is often faster and always better than trying to squeeze an install into a turnaround.

What vessel types do you work on?

All of them. Tankers, container vessels, bulk carriers, ferries, RoRo, offshore support vessels, CTVs, tugs, workboats, cruise ships, platforms and yachts.

How quickly can you get someone on site?

Next business day in Singapore and Denmark. Everywhere else, we give you an honest mobilisation time up front, and in the meantime, most problems are solved remotely.

Can you take over a network someone else installed?

Yes. We start with an audit, tell you honestly what is worth keeping, and work from there.

What if we already have an IT team?

Then we support them, not replace them. Many clients use us for design and specialist offshore work while their own team handles day-to-day IT.
